Katie Wallace, a Texas-based singer, songwriter, and musician, embodies the essence of old country nostalgia, drawing inspiration from legends like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Tammy Wynette. Hailing from Lindale, Texas, the same small town as Miranda Lambert, Katie's journey began in the heart of country music culture. Her debut Country single, "In The Morning" was a career defining moment for her as it premiered on the editorial Spotify playlist "New Music Friday Country."
Her songwriting prowess gained recognition when she penned tracks for Grammy-nominated artist Kadebostany and her band Foxy & The Hares. This propelled Katie into the spotlight, earning her features in Vogue Italia and placements in popular TV shows like MTV's Catfish, Teen Mom, Project Runway, and the film Game Of Love.
What sets Katie apart is her commitment to her craft. Alongside her husband and partner of 11 years, (Coleby Arnett) Katie writes and records all her music in a self-built tiny home studio. This personal touch adds a unique charm to her work, creating a sound that resonates with the authenticity of classic country while embracing a modern edge. Katie Wallace stands as a testament to the rich musical heritage of Texas, weaving tales of love, life, and the timeless spirit of country music.
How did "Two Lovebirds in a cage come about, and what does it mean for you and your artistic trajectory? I always wanted to make a very romantic song. First, I composed several versions of this song, and then I worked with an artist from Texas called Katie Wallace: I had worked with her before, and Katie wrote the lyrics and the top line. I knew I needed a very special voice for this song - I sent it to Sena and she loved it, and the rest is history!
How would you describe this track, musically?
I was inspired by the classic artists of the 70's like Dolly Parton and Brian Eno. I wanted to capture that 70's feeling, and at the same time give it a super modern and timeless feel.
